INNOVATIVE RODENT BAITING
Back to Pest Control Equipment

Any rodent sighting will usually mean a large population lurks nearby.  Rodents are not normally seen unless the population has grown large enough to force some of the individual rats to the outside perimeter of their hiding place. This is known as population pressure. Our job is to prevent and reduce this population as soon as possible.

Don’t leave calling us until a rodent has been seen. Actively ensure the eradication of this troublesome pest by taking the necessary preventative measures.

Rokill offers various preventative solutions to assist a with planned rodent control program.

Rodent Care

Rats are generally afraid of changes or new objects placed in their territory (neophobia). Sometimes it takes several days for rats to accept the placement of anything new in their environment.  The use of tamper resistant permanent baiting points can overcome new object reaction.  We utilise a variety of covert baiting methods including bait bins and manhole covers.

Physical Signs of Infestation
Look for these common signs of rodent infestation:
  • Runways - paths will form between feeding and harborage areas. Rodents memorise their territory and use the same paths again and again. They prefer to move along objects. By identifying rodent movement patterns we can effectively place traps and bait stations.
  • Droppings - mice have very little control over where they deposit droppings so these tend to be found scattered.  Rats prefer to designate an area for droppings.  Corners and dark, quiet areas are favoured.
  • Population - estimating populations is difficult. Because rodents are primarily nocturnal, daytime rodent sightings may indicate a significant population.
  • Urine/Odour - a distinctive, musky odour may be present. Look for urine stains. Rodent urine is visible under black light. However, many other household and commercial products also fluoresce.
  • Gnaw marks - fresh gnaw marks are light and will darken over time. Scratch-like marks approximately 1.5 mm wide are made by mice. Clear 3 mm gnaw marks are made by rats.
  • Smear marks - rodents leave smear marks from body oil, grease and dirt along the walls they travel.
  • Tracks - footprints and tail scrapes may be seen in dusty locations.
  • Upset pets - household pets, such as cats and dogs may become agitated when they hear rodents gnawing, digging, running and fighting.
