Jensen Button we are not!

The 24th June 2010 saw part of the Rokill Management Team head to Milton Keynes to support Santander in raising money for Cancer Research.  Thirty one teams battled it out to first get pole position then cross the finishing line first after 3 long hours of non stop racing!  The amount raised was over £43,000 and this included money raised via an auction held after the race.  The photo shows the Team joined by two personnel from Santander (Back Left to right: Mark Paine (Rokill Area Manager), Brian Duffin (Rokill Chief Technical Officer), Alec McQuin (Rokill Managing Director), Dave Perrett (Rokill Operations Manager)

Christmas cheer goes to a good cause

Early January saw Rokill hold its Christmas Party.  As well as the usual Disco our staff enjoyed a hearty meal and a fun Casino at The Haven Hotel, Poole .  During the evening a raffle was held with prizes kindly donated by the following companies:
Pestwest, Killgerm, Roman, Vidal, Ratpak, FJB Hotels, Tower supplies, Huck and Fudges Bakery.

With Rokill's donation a sum of £1,910 was collected at the end of the evening.  This was donated to the Victoria Education Centre, Lindsay Road, Branksome, Poole and will be helping them build a hydrotherapy pool.
We would like to thank everyone who donated or supported this event.

What a year 2009 was!  Despite the recession our clients have remained supportive and we have continued to provide the high level of service tailored to them.

Thank you for your continued support.

Fellowship of SOFHT

Chris Turner, general manager of Rokill, had reason to celebrate. At its annual luncheon held in London during November, the Society of Food Hygiene Technology (SOFHT) awarded him a fellowship of the Society.

SOFHT fellowships are awarded at the discretion of the SOFHT council to members who have contributed exceptional and outstanding service to the Society.

“Since its inception, SOFHT has only awarded 29 fellowships so I feel highly honoured to be recognised in such a manner,” said Chris.

Roll Over Jensen Button!

Rokill were pleased to support our clients at The Abbey Help the Hospices Charity 3 Hour Kart Race in June.  The event raised almost £27,000 and helped Abbey/Santander raise £198,000 over the year for this charity.
Our intrepid team of ace drivers took turns in completing the 3 hour endurance race but, alas, they were pipped to the post by the majority of the competition!

A big WELL DONE to Stan Tedford, Rokill Surveyor and resident "Iron Man", who ran a time of 1 hour 41 mins at the Half Marathon held Sunday 11th October 2009 at Hyde Park, London.  He joined 15,000 athletes (supporting 150 charities) and celebrities such as Ben Fogle, James Cracknell and Nell McAndrew.  The conumate athlete that he is, Stan was slighylt disappointed with his time although he was extremely pleased to have run part of the distance with Chris Chataway who had helped Roger Bannister pace himself for breaking the 4 minute mile!

RoSPA Occupational Health & Safety Award Winner 2009

Rokill Limited is celebrating winning one of the prestigious RoSPA Occupational Heath and Safety Awards in 2009.

Rokill's second consecutive Gold Medal Award was presented at a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, National Exhibition Centre, on Thursday, May 14, alongside Safety & Health Expo 2009, the UK’s premier health and safety at work exhibition.

David Rawlins, RoSPA Awards Manager, said; “Rokill Ltd has shown a commitment to protecting the health and well-being of its employees and others.  Entering the RoSPA Awards reinforces the message that good health and safety is good for business and clearly demonstrates an organisations's dedication to improving performance in this crucial area.”

Brian Duffin, Chief Technical Officer was recognised by RoSPA as operating safely for 6 consecutive years and said; “Iam very proud to have accepted the Award on behalf of our Team, all of which have safely helped us provide a value for money service to our many clients.”

The RoSPA awards are not just about reducing the number of accidents and cases of ill health at work; they help to ensure that organisations have good health and safety management systems in place.

In the current economic climate, awards are more important than ever because they demonstrate that employees care about their employees and will not let slip their standards of health and safety practice even if times are tough.

The RoSPA Occupation Health and Safety Awards 2009 are sponsored by NEBOSH (The National Examination Board I in Occupational Safety and Health), the leading health and safety professional examining body.

We're Football Crazy!

The Royal Warrant Holders Association Five-A-Side Football Competition was held at The Royal Hospital Chelsea, Burton Court on Saturday 20th June 2009.  Our Team displayed their skills and fitness (top row from left to right: Chris Rankin, Richard Smith, Andy Jackson, Scott Reynolds (Bird).  Bottom Row left to right:  Dave Bolderstone, Toby Legg (Captain), Paul Downham (Bird), Dave Collins (Bird)

Our intrepid athletes were slightly unfortunate in being drawn to play the winners of last year's competition, DHL but they put up a brave fight and lost 3 - 0.  They won the next 1 - 0 and drew the next 0 - 0.  Unfortunately Scott sustained an injury and played no further part on the pitch but he did manage to start on the beers before the other guys!

They were then put forward for the HRH Prince Henry of Wales Shield where they improved as a team (they had only practiced once) with better communication and despite the warmth sapping their energies, managed to get to the semi finals before losing on penalties.
Everyone played their hearts out and Dave Bolderstone was running around like a whippet for most of the day!
