Keep on running…
Sunday 10th October 2010 saw two Rokill athletes (Dave Perrett, Rokill Operations Manager – left and Stan Tedford, Rokill Area Surveyor – right) join a team of 34 individuals running for the Royal Warrant Holders Association at the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon.
They joined 12,500 people raising money for Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust, QEST.
The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) makes awards ranging up to £15,000 to craftsmen and women of all ages to help them further their careers.
Since 1991 the Trust has awarded £1.5 million to 226 craftspeople aged between 17 and 50 plus for study, training and work experience.
QEST, the charitable arm of the Royal Warrant Holders Association, was established in 1990 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Association and the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. The Trustees look for well thought out projects, which will contribute to the pool of talent in the UK and reflect the excellence of British Craftsmanship as symbolised by the Royal Warrant of Appointment.
The winner of the race completed the course in one hour five minutes! Whilst Dave and Stan weren’t quite as fast as this they enjoyed rubbing shoulders with Nell McAndrew and Ben Fogle.
