Coronation Festival at Buckingham Palace
Rokill Pest Control recently took part in the Coronation Festival at Buckingham Palace. The event was organised by the Royal Warrant Holders Association to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation. This unique event had been planned for several years and the feedback from the visitors and the exhibitors was extremely positive.
Royal Warrants are issued by the Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh and The Prince of Wales to companies that have supplied goods or services for over 5 years, demonstrating the values of quality and service. Around 800 companies hold a Royal warrant and 200 Warrant holders were selected for the Coronation Festival. One of the key objectives was for the companies involved to demonstrate the incredible range of products and services provided to the Royal Households, spanning a wide range from fabulous jewellers, furniture makers, tailors to chimney sweeps and in Rokill’s case pest control.
The festival spanned 4 days – on the first day virtually the entire Royal family were in attendance and our Managing Director Alec McQuin, who is also Vice President of the Royal Warrant Holders Association, had the honour of escorting the Earl of Wessex around the Festival.
Rokill were delighted to receive visits to their stand from the Earl & Countess of Wessex, The Duke of Kent and the Princess Royal.
A giant stage was installed at the rear of the palace and bands and singers performed in the afternoons. In the evenings a star studded Gala concert included Katherine Jenkins, Russell Watson, Katie Melua , the Feeling and Boys Aloud was hosted by the BBCs’s Sophie Rayworth and Gareth Malone.
The warm summer evenings, the beautiful lighting and the music created wonderful memories for all who attended and the BBC broadcast the performance.
The sun shone continuously for the 4 days, it was an incredible event with 60,000 visitors enjoying the event and being able to walk around the beautiful gardens of Buckingham Palace, a fitting tribute to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the coronation.
